Uganda’s Sports Minister Puts Nation on the Global Map

Uganda`s State Minister for Education and Sports (Sports), Hon Peter Ogwang, made a significant impact in London, UK, by joining forces with key stakeholders to boost Uganda’s sports sector.

 Minister Ogwang who is also the Ngariam County Member of Parliament was accompanied by Dr. Bernard Patrick Ogwel, the General Secretary of the National Council of Sports (NCS), and Godwin Kayangwe, President of the Uganda Rugby Union (URU), for a strategic meeting.

During their stay in London, the delegation had the privilege of watching the finals of the Women’s Rugby Cup. The event provided an excellent opportunity for networking and strengthening ties between Ugandan sports officials and international counterparts.

A key highlight of the visit was the signing of a deal aimed at promoting rugby in Uganda. The agreement underscores the country’s commitment to developing the sport and nurturing young talent. With the support of the Uganda High Commissioner to the UK, the deal is expected to open new avenues for Ugandan rugby players and teams to compete globally.
