PARLIAMENT OF UGANDA-Sports Minister Peter Ogwang, the Member of Parliament for Ngariam County and Minister of State for Education and Sports (Sports), is set to lead Uganda’s parliamentary football team striking line at the upcoming East African Inter-Parliamentary Games.

The regional tournament, which started on December 5th and will run up to December 17th, 2025, will bring together teams from nine East African Community member states: Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan, Somalia, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Ogwang’s leadership is expected to energize Ugandan legislators as they prepare to showcase their sporting talent in football, netball, basketball, volleyball, athletics, tug of war, golf, and darts for Members with disabilities.

The event aims to strengthen regional unity and cooperation, while also promoting healthier lifestyles and cultural exchange among participants.

Ugandans vividly recall Ogwang’s outstanding performance in the previous parliamentary games held in Kenya, where he finished as the tournament’s leading striker, scoring several crucial goals.

“The last tournament pushed me to give everything I had. This time, I’m even more prepared,” he noted, expressing optimism ahead of the upcoming competition.

His previous success has heightened public anticipation, with many awaiting his performance in this year’s games.

Uganda enters the tournament as the defending champion after emerging victorious in the last edition. The team has been training intensively, and Kakuuto County MP Geoffrey Lutaaya voiced confidence in their readiness.

“We have worked hard, our teamwork has improved, and we are determined to bring the trophy home again,” he said.

The matches will be held across key sports venues in Kampala, including Kololo Independence Grounds, Lugogo Arena, and Phillip Omondi Stadium.

To ensure maximum visibility, the games will be broadcast live on NBS Sport and Afro Mobile, allowing Ugandans everywhere to support their parliamentary team.

“We have worked hard, our teamwork has improved, and we are determined to bring the trophy home again,” he said
