The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) and the nation at large are mourning the death of Hon. Stella Apolot Isodo, the Ngora District Woman Member of Parliament, who passed away in Kampala after a prolonged illness.
In a statement, the FDC announced that Hon. Isodo had been unwell for several months, during which time she received treatment at Doctors Plaza in Soroti and later abroad in India. Her condition later deteriorated, prompting her referral to Kampala Hospital, where she died while awaiting surgery.
A Devoted Public Servant
The FDC described Hon. Isodo as a devoted leader who served the people of Ngora District with unwavering commitment and humility. Elected on the FDC ticket, she distinguished herself in Parliament as a principled legislator and a strong voice for women, youth, and vulnerable communities.
“Hon. Isodo served her people with commitment and dedication. She will be deeply missed,” the party said in its condolence message.
Burial Programme

Following consultations between Parliament and the family, an official burial programme has been released.
A funeral service will be held at Watoto Church, Bweyogerere, on Tuesday, 20th January 2026, starting at 10:00am.
On Wednesday, 21st January 2026, the body will be taken to Parliament of Uganda at 10:00am,where Members of Parliament and national leaders will pay tribute beginning at 2:00pm. The body will later be taken to her home in Namugongo for a night vigil.
Another funeral service will take place on Thursday, 22nd January 2026, at Pentecostal Assemblies of God (PAG) Church, Soroti, beginning at 11:00am. After the service, the body will be transported to Serere before returning to Soroti for a night vigil.
On Friday, 23rd January 2026, mourners will gather for a night vigil in Osigiria Village, Ngora Town Council.
The burial service will be held on Saturday, 24th January 2026, at 10:00am, at her ancestral home in Osigiria Village, where she will be laid to rest.
Nation Mourns
The FDC extended heartfelt condolences to Hon. Isodo’s family, friends, the people of Ngora District, and the nation. Similar messages of condolence have poured in from Parliament, political leaders across the divide, and the general public.
As Parliament and Ngora prepare to escort her on her final journey, Uganda reflects on the life of a leader whose service was rooted in dedication, courage, and love for her people.
