There are books that sit quietly on shelves
And there are books that step down, shake hands with reality, and ask us to rise

KAMPALA-On Thursday, 26th March 2026, Nile Hall at Hotel Africana will host more than a literary event. It will host a moment. A movement. A mirror held up to a people ready to grow.

Dr. John Ekure will unveil his latest work, We Can Be More — a title that reads like a sentence, but sounds like a summons.

Speaking ahead of the launch, Dr. Ekure described the book as a personal and collective call to transformation.
“ We Can Be More is not just a statement of hope; it is a declaration of responsibility,” Dr. Ekure said. “It reminds us that growth is intentional, resilience is cultivated, and our communities become stronger when we choose to rise together.”

The author noted that the message of the book speaks directly to families, leaders, young professionals, and students — urging them to unlock their potential while lifting others along the way.

A Book Launch with a Bigger Mission

Beyond the pages lies purpose. Proceeds from the event will support the *Elizabeth Opola Foundation*, an organisation dedicated to advancing tertiary education for disadvantaged youth and championing environmental conservation.

Each ticket purchased will fund opportunity — turning inspiration into scholarships and environmental action.
Standard tickets are priced at UGX 200,000, inclusive of dinner and a signed copy of the book.* Tables for groups are also available, encouraging families, corporate leaders, and community groups to participate collectively.

A Call to Ateker Unity

Dr. Ekure has extended a special invitation to the Ateker community — leaders, elders, professionals, and youth — to attend and support the cause.
“This is our story too,” he emphasised. “When Ateker stands together, we build futures together. I invite our people to come, to support, and to be part of something that invests in the next generation.”

Organisers describe the evening as one where elegance will meet empathy, and where every handshake will carry the weight of shared responsibility.

As March 26 approaches, anticipation builds — not merely for the unveiling of a book, but for the affirmation of a belief: that indeed, we can be more.
