SOROTI— When the 2025 results of the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education(UACE) were released, celebration erupted at Halcyon High School in Otatai, Soroti District. The institution once again proved that steady investment in discipline, quality teaching and a focused learning environment produces academic excellence.
The school registered a string of impressive scores, reinforcing its reputation as one of the rising centres of academic strength in Eastern Uganda. From science combinations to arts, Halcyon candidates demonstrated resilience and brilliance — a reflection of the school’s philosophy of turning potential into achievement.
Top Stars Lead the Charge
Leading the academic parade is Davies Sseruga, who scored a remarkable 20 points in BAG/SM, emerging as the school’s best performer in the 2025 UACE examinations.
He is closely followed by Emmanuel Odong and Joel Opio Edopu, who both posted 19 points in BCM/ICT combinations, confirming the school’s growing strength in science disciplines.
Other outstanding candidates include Richard Elungat, who scored 18 points, while Joel Osire and Rhoda Akiteng each attained 17 points, rounding off a list of students who carried the school flag high.
Headteacher Praises Discipline and Hard Work

The Headteacher of Halcyon High School, Mark Paul Onyait, attributed the success to discipline, teamwork and commitment from both teachers and learners.
“These results are not accidental,” Onyait said. “They are the product of consistent hard work, dedication from our teachers, and the determination of our students. At Halcyon, we nurture not only academic excellence but also character and purpose. We are proud of our candidates for making the school shine once again.”
Resident Manager Applauds School’s Rising Academic Reputation
The Resident Manager, Richard Omusei, said the results confirm the school’s mission of transforming young learners into future leaders.
“Our goal has always been to provide quality education that prepares students for real opportunities in life,” Omusei noted. “Seeing our learners perform this well at A-Level is a strong signal that Halcyon is becoming a centre of excellence in the region.”
Located about four kilometres from Soroti city along the old Mbale Road after Pamba, Halcyon High School is a mixed day and boarding secondary school registered with the Ministry of Education and Sports (Uganda). The institution offers both O-Level and A-Level education in a conducive learning environment supported by modern science laboratories, computer facilities and experienced teaching staff.
A Call to Parents
School administrators say the strong UACE 2025 performance should reassure parents seeking a reliable institution to nurture their children’s dreams.
With its guiding belief of “changing rough stones into fine diamonds,” Halcyon High School is inviting parents and guardians across the Teso sub-region and beyond to entrust their children to a school where discipline, mentorship and academic excellence go hand in hand.
As the school celebrates another academic milestone, the message is clear: at Halcyon, dreams are not only imagined — they are empowered and achieved.
