The Minister of State for Energy and Mineral Development, Hon. Okaasai S. Opolot, has highlighted the government’s progress in the energy sector, citing upcoming oil output and ongoing exploration activities.
According to Hon. Opolot, the ministry’s scientists have collected samples of a salt-like material in Kapolin-Ongiino S/County for scientific analysis, with results expected to be made public soon.
This development follows a community alert in which farmers from Ongiino subcounty discovered the substance in their gardens after a heavy downpour.
In addition to the energy sector’s growth, Hon. Opolot emphasized the vast tourism potential in Kumi County.
The area boasts attractions such as the Nyero rock paintings, lakes Bisina and Opeta, and the shoebill bird, making it an ideal destination for tourists.
“We are therefore destined to be a tourist hub for eastern Uganda,” Hon. Opolot said, adding, “We are blessed and rich, but must work hard… Let’s dream big.”
