KAMPALA — Former NRM Chairman for the Eastern Region, Hon. Flight Captain Mike Mukula, has commended Ngariam County MP Hon. Peter Ogwang for his dynamic and committed leadership.

Speaking during a celebration to mark Hon. Ogwang’s successful swearing-in, Mukula told guests: “To the people of Ngariam County, you have chosen a very dynamic and true leader. We can’t take this for granted.”

Mukula recalled that Hon. Ogwang was active in NRM youth politics as far back as his days as a student at Soroti Senior Secondary School, showing early signs of his dedication to public service.

He said President Museveni had vowed to crack down on corruption and had declared the current term a _Kisanja Hakuna Mchezo_ — a term of no jokes and no corruption.

Mukula noted that Uganda is now one of the fastest-growing economies in Africa. “Uganda is now one of the leading exporters of coffee in Africa, and by July, it will start drilling and exporting oil,” he said.

He added that the country is enjoying total peace, unlike in the past when parts of Northern, Central, Eastern, Western, and West Nile regions experienced war, alongside cattle rustling in Teso and Karamoja.

“With peace and stability in the country, Uganda is now exporting peace to other countries like Somalia, South Sudan, DRC, among others,” he said.

Mukula welcomed the growing number of young people taking up leadership positions and urged them to make the fight against corruption a priority.

“I want to appeal to you, the young leaders, to focus on fighting corruption. I want to liken you in the fight against corruption to the way Muslims hate pork,” he said.
