The government has announced plans to construct a stadium in Teso as part of the next phase of sports infrastructure development.
The stadium project is part of a broader strategy to distribute sports infrastructure across the country. While the Bunyoro region benefits from the AFCO project, which includes an international stadium in Hoima, other regions have also received attention. The eastern region boasts the Teryet high-altitude center in Kapchorwa, while the central region is served by the Namboole stadium. The northern region will benefit from the Akibua stadium.
According to the member of the National Council of Sports, M/S Cecilia Anyakoit, the government has a master plan for sports infrastructure development, which includes a stadium, high-performance center, and academy for Teso.
This plan demonstrates the government’s commitment to transforming the sports subsector in Uganda.
“I am grateful to see the efforts of Hon. Ogwang and the government bearing fruit. Uganda’s sports performance has undergone significant transformation, and we should acknowledge the progress made. Let’s continue to support our sports leaders and government in their endeavors to develop sports infrastructure and promote excellence in the country”, Anyakoit emphasized.
