Halcyon High School Senior Four Candidates Urged to Stay Focused As UCE Exams Start

SOROTI,UGANDA-Senior four candidates at Halcyon High School in Soroti District,Uganda have been encouraged to remain focused as they prepare to sit for their Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examinations.

David Ochola, the senior four class teacher, briefed the candidates, appealing for them to stay focused, consult teachers, and practice good time management.

“Success is not by chance but choice,” Ochola emphasized.

Samuel Osako, Director of Studies, urged candidates to be disciplined and consume nutritious food to enhance brain function and performance.

John Richard Edongu, Chief Invigilator, cautioned students against any examination malpractices.

Paul Mark Onyait, Head Teacher of Halcyon High School, revealed 658 candidates are expected to sit for the UCE exams. 

The main examination center has 242 male and 238 female candidates. The annex center has 178 candidates (66 male, 112 female).

This year’s National Examinations are centered on the theme: “Embracing security and holistic assessment of learners in a dynamic environment”.

Onyait appealed to the invigilators to advise, guide and counsel the candidates during Examination period.

While addressing the students at Bethany Comprehensive Secondary School in Soroti Rev. Godfrey Obone, the Education Coordinator of the Church of Uganda Soroti Diocese encouraged the students to cultivate a transformed and positive mindset as they prepare for the upcoming Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examinations.

Rev. Obone, stressed the importance of having a mindset aligned with faith and purpose. 

Quoting Romans chapter 12, Rev. Obone urged the candidates not to conform to worldly patterns but to renew their minds according to God’s will.

Rev. Obone appealed to the students to appreciate their unique creation and have faith in their abilities in order to succeed in the exams.

He emphasized spiritual grounding and positivity as keys to achieving success.

Rev. Obone also cautioned the students against imitating lifestyles that don’t reflect their true selves, encouraging them to embrace their individuality.

A total of 49 candidates from Bethany Comprehensive Secondary School are registered for the 2025 UCE examinations.

Justine Apio, a senior four representative of Bethany Comprehensive secondary school beleives that Education is a passport to the future and prepares students for the future challenges.
