On a bright Sunday morning at Akwaradada Catholic Church in Palam, the choir hums a hymn beneath a half-built roof. A child balances a Bible on his lap as the wind flips its pages. In the corner, an old man runs his palm over a newly cemented wall and smiles, whispering, “At least now the rain will find another place to fall.”
Across Ngariam County, this quiet joy is repeating itself — brick by brick, beam by beam. Churches that once prayed for shelter are now finding it, thanks to the steady hand and generous heart of Hon. Peter Ogwang, Minister of State for Education and Sports (Sports) and Member of Parliament for Ngariam County.
Over the past months, Hon. Ogwang has extended support to over 200 churches, distributing more than 20,000 bags of cement and 10,000 iron sheets — a gospel of action written not in words, but in deeds.
A Gospel of Action
For Hon. Ogwang, faith is not a Sunday costume but a daily commitment. In his own words, “You can’t build a strong community if its soul is weak. The church is where that soul begins.”
From the Anglican arch to the Pentecostal tent, his hand of support has stretched wide — uplifting not only buildings, but believers.
“We are grateful for Hon. Ogwang’s generosity and commitment to supporting the church,” said Rev. John Okodan, a local Anglican priest. “This support will go a long way in helping us complete our church building project.”
In Katakwi Town Council, St. Paul’s Catholic Church received 100 bags of cement, while St. Pius Catholic Church in Getom Subcounty received 120 iron sheets — blessings that will help transform their long-standing dreams into concrete reality.
And it didn’t stop there. Hon. Ogwang extended his generosity to the church workers who keep faith alive in the villages — catechists and lay readers received bicycles, while some reverends and priests were gifted motorcycles, ensuring the gospel reaches even the farthest corners of Ngariam.
Where Faith Meets Foundation
At Akwaradada Catholic Church, the bell now hangs firm over a newly roofed sanctuary. In another village, worshipers who once gathered under trees now sing within freshly plastered walls.
“Hon. Ogwang’s support is a blessing to our church,” said Catechist Pascal Akabwai of Akwaradada Catholic Church.

“We appreciate his kindness and look forward to his continued partnership.”
These are not just construction stories — they are faith stories, cemented in gratitude and held up by community spirit.
Building More Than Churches
Beyond cement and iron, the gesture tells a deeper story: that leadership, at its best, is a service to both God and people. Hon. Ogwang’s belief that “a community that prays together grows together” echoes through every bag of cement delivered, every iron sheet raised, and every bicycle or motorcycle handed over in service of ministry.
By supporting churches, he is not only strengthening faith — he is fortifying the very moral architecture of Ngariam.
A Testament Of Leadership
From empowering youth and farmers to revitalizing schools and uplifting churches, Hon. Ogwang continues to blend service with spirituality.
And as spires rise across Ngariam, so too does a shared conviction — that the true measure of leadership lies not in speeches or rallies, but in the quiet gift of giving back to those who believe.
For now, as hymns rise from freshly roofed churches and cement hardens under bare feet, Ngariam knows this truth: some leaders build roads, others build hearts — Hon. Ogwang does both.
