Residents of Ojijima Village, Amoru Parish, Amusia Sub County in Katakwi District, are worried about a suspected outbreak of rabies in their area.

The concern follows a stray dog attack that killed over five goats in the village.

John Francis Omerikori, the chairperson of people with disabilities in Katakwi District, raised the alarm after the incident.

According to Omerikori, the stray dog killed the goats, and although the residents buried the carcasses in the bush, they were shocked to see other dogs following and eating the remains.

Community members, including Jane Akiteng and Emmanuel Ekelot, have expressed concerns about the safety of children and vulnerable individuals due to the stray dogs, which have become increasingly aggressive.

Basilio Opolot, the Environment Officer for Ojijima East, has also noted the ongoing problems caused by the dogs and appealed for intervention from the District Veterinary Department.
