Katakwi Boma Grounds-The rain came down in sheets over the plains of Katakwi Town Council, drumming softly on rooftops and tin sheets, washing the dust off the town as if to prepare it for something sacred. The skies hung low and grey, yet beneath their weight, the spirit of Katakwi burned bright.

At Katakwi Boma Grounds, men and women braved the drizzle — hammering, hauling, shouting orders through the misty air. Every strike of a hammer against wood, every thud of a stake into the muddy ground echoed the same message:the President is coming.

Tomorrow, Saturday 1st November 2025, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the NRM Presidential Candidate, is expected to descend upon Katakwi District for his Teso campaign tour. The air itself hums with expectation, thick with the smell of wet earth and excitement.

Fenon Records, a prominent Kampala based event organizer and promoter has transformed the open ground into a cathedral of sound and light, their stage rising proudly against the rainy skyline. Cables snake through puddles, tents bloom like yellow mushrooms, and speakers stand sentinel — waiting to deliver thunder that will rival the heavens.

Even the rain cannot drown the music of preparation. Boda-bodas splash through puddles, their riders wrapped in NRM ponchos, shouting instructions and ferrying supplies. The rhythm of work continues, unfazed by the downpour — for nothing, not even the rain, can cool the fire of anticipation in Katakwi.

Under the shelter of a mango tree stands Mzee Yorobwamu Ikodet,62, his stick firm in the mud, his face creased with years and stories. Watching the busy scene, he murmurs, “Otukwi! Otukwi! Inyobo lolo ibore yen!” — “Katakwi, Katakwi, today your luck is visible.”

When I ask what he means, he smiles, rain dripping from his chin.

“I have seen many gatherings,” he says, “but this one is different. The President’s visit is a blessing. Even the rain knows it — it has come to cleanse the land for his arrival.”

Meanwhile, the Uganda Prisons team moves with quiet precision, cleaning the venue, erecting barriers, and spreading gravel over muddy paths. Motorcycle riders tune their bikes for tomorrow’s grand maneuvering display, engines roaring like distant thunder across the wet fields.

Vendors huddle under tarpaulins, preachers test their microphones, and the yellow flags flutter stubbornly against the damp breeze. Katakwi tonight is a living drum — stretched, tuned, and ready to speak.

By dusk, as the rain softens to a whisper, the stage lights flicker to life. Their glow dances on puddles, turning them into mirrors of promise. The people of Katakwi know — tomorrow will not just be another day. It will be a moment, a memory, a meeting between hope and history.

For when President Museveni steps onto the soaked soil of Katakwi, he will find a people undeterred by weather, united by purpose, and warmed by faith in the future.

And so, as the night deepens and the last raindrops fall, Katakwi waits — drenched, glowing, alive — for the man in the hat, the man in yellow.

Tomorrow Saturday 1st November 2025, the drums — and the rain — will speak.
