Usuk County, Katakwi —Democratic Party (DP) candidate, Mr. Ogulo Simon Peter has officially announced his decision to step down from the Usuk County Parliamentary race in favour of Hon. Richard Ongorok, the NRM flag bearer.
Mr. Ogulo described the decision as a personal and patriotic choice made in the best interest of the people of Usuk County. He emphasized that leadership is about service, unity, and putting citizens first, not personal ambition.
“First of all, the decision is personal. I chose to put people’s interests first and focus on finding lasting solutions to the problems they face,” said Ogulo.
He further noted that joining hands with the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) will strengthen collective efforts towards community transformation.
“Yes, it will strengthen the party because when someone from the opposition joins, it builds unity and shared purpose,” he added.
Ogulo highlighted his political maturity and the sound judgment behind his decision, saying he was inspired by NRM’s clear manifesto and vision for elevating the lives of ordinary citizens.
“Two heads are better than one. When we come together as people with the same vision and manifesto, our goals will be achieved easily,” he remarked.
Addressing the public and political perception surrounding his move, Ogulo reminded leaders and supporters alike that Usuk is bigger than all of us.
“Leaders come and go. If given a chance, always put people’s interests first and remain loyal to your electorate. Political office is a five-year term — what matters is serving with integrity and unity,” he said.
He appealed to his supporters to embrace the coalition and work together for a better Usuk.
“Let us build bridges rather than walls. Togetherness, unity, and obedience are vital in the art of politics and for a peaceful transition,” he concluded.

The announcement has been received with overwhelming positivity across Usuk County and beyond. Community leaders, youth representatives, and ordinary citizens have praised Ogulo’s decision as a reflection of maturity, patriotism, and visionary leadership.
