ORUNGO PRIMARY SCHOOL-Gen Abu Bakar JEJE Odongo, an independent candidate for Orungo County in Amuria District, has unveiled his manifesto for 2026-2031, focusing on four key issues: Peace, Unity, Security, and Economic Empowerment.

The former Army Commander unveiled his manifesto before the large crowd in Orungo Primary School in Orungo Town Council.

He emphasized his commitment to ensuring peace and security in the County, stating, “I want to ensure that insecurity should be wiped out because I want the people of Orungo to enjoy peace.”

Odongo also pledged to tackle land grabbing, particularly the Ococwa Catholic Church land, saying, “We should stop grabbing of land belonging to institutions like churches and schools. Our grandparents did well to donate land for those institutions, but it’s unfortunate that we now have people who are trying to take away this land. We should stop this stupidity if we want to develop.”

The candidate has also promised to donate part of his salary to Orungo county, with each sub-county receiving the funds for community empowerment and poverty reduction. Gen Odongo who is also the Minister of Foreign Affairs warned those who are threatening NRM lower leaders who are backing him and campaigning for him to back off.

“You have no authority to threatened any party leader for supporting an independent candidate because those leaders were elected and not appointed. That is not correct. You do not threaten somebody because of his belief and you have no right to deny a person as a flag bearer because flag bearers are not appointed but they are elected by the people and it’s the people who have a right to un elected them”, he warned.

Gen Odongo added, “ …. Even those who are threatening the Gombolola Intelligence Officers ;they should stop it because the GISOs are government officers who are simply doing their work and their channel and duty is completely different.”

He pledged to champion agriculture to ensure that farmers add value to their produce in order t earn more.

The Minister emphasized that he would work on improving education noting that he had already procured a printing machine to support schools to print exams and tests which would be distributed free of charge to schools to prepare pupils and students to sit their final exams.
