APUUTON VILLAGE,USUK SUBCOUNTY,KATAKWI-The Bishop of Lifeline Resurrection Ministries, James Israel Tukei, urged cultural institutions to practice traditions that are in line with God’s teachings in the Holy Bible.

Tukei made the remarks on Tuesday while representing the Archbishop of Born‑Again Churches in Uganda, His Grace Moses Odongo, at the second‑anniversary prayers held at the Iteso Cultural Union ritual site in Apuuton village, Usuk Sub‑County, Katakwi District.

Tukei said God hates cultures that contradict His teachings, especially rituals such as eating and drinking animal blood mixed with traditional herbs.

He called on cultural institutions to respect and follow biblical principles in areas such as dress code, food, drink, and songs.

Tukei added that the family of God will continue holding prayers at the Apuuton cultural ritual site for the next seven years, as revealed by God when He ordered the destruction of the site on 11 November 2024.

The first prayers were held then by a coalition of different religious denominations across Teso.

Meanwhile, Lt‑Gen Peter Elwelu, a servant of God who disclosed the presence of the ritual site in Katakwi District, said God has forgiven the people of Teso for the curses inherited from their ancestors who performed rituals for personal gain.

He explained that since the site’s destruction, God has opened doors for blessings in leadership, food production, health, and other areas, and has instructed him to hold yearly prayers at the site for seven years.

Elwelu declared that the powers the devil held over the ritual site have been broken, and the place is now an altar of God where anyone can pray for blessing and protection.

He said the site will also become a tourist attraction, with documentation of its history for visitors.

He urged cultural leaders to put God first and abandon harmful practices that conflict with biblical teachings.

The area now has piped water, and residents of Apuuton village report that they no longer experience the evil attacks—such as sickness—that occurred when the ritual site was active.

They note that even the appearances of snakes have ceased since the “main snake” used for gaining power was killed during last year’s prayers.

Madelena Aujo and Michael Okello expressed gratitude to Gen. Elwelu for revealing the problems they endured while the ritual site existed and for the deliverance they now enjoy.
