OCOKICAN,SOROTI DISTRICT-The Independent candidate for Soroti District Woman MP, Joan Rose Egabu, has stepped up her campaign trail with renewed vigor, drawing huge crowds as she traverses the district.
After launching her campaign in Arapai on Monday, Egabu on Tuesday took her message of hope and transformation to Ochomai and Ocokican Parishes in Ocokican Sub-county, where residents turned up in large numbers to welcome her with songs, dances, and chants of “Egabu for Action!”
Speaking to her supporters, Egabu reaffirmed her resolve to lead through service and action, not promises. She outlined her plan to empower women through village savings groups, skill the youth for employment, and revive agriculture through cooperatives and value addition.
“We have waited too long for promises that never reach us,” she said. “It’s time to build Soroti from below — to empower our people and restore dignity to every home.” Her words drew thunderous applause from the crowd, with locals praising her as “the leader who listens and understands.”
Egabu, who is running as an Independent after what she called a “stolen NRM primary victory,” continues to attract widespread support across Soroti County, Dakabela, and Gweri. Her campaign, anchored on faith, integrity, and action, is fast redefining local politics.
As one elder in Ochomai put it, “Egabu doesn’t just promise change — she brings it.” With each stop, her movement grows stronger, giving Soroti a fresh voice and a new sense of belief ahead of 2026.
