SOROTI DISTRICT-Gweri County roared back to political life yesterday, as Hon. Herbert Edmund Okworo Ariko, the NRM flagbearer, returned to the campaign trail with a powerful grassroots mobilisation drive that swept through villages like a long-awaited homecoming.

After a brief lull following the NRM party primaries, EC nomination period, and President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s Teso Sub-region tour, Hon. Ariko has relaunched his village-to-village outreach — a trademark of his ground-rooted politics.

Acaboi Parish: A Homecoming That Stopped Business

The official relaunch held at Acaboi Parish in Aukot Sub County brought business to a standstill as residents poured out from trading centres, gardens, and homesteads to welcome “their son.” Songs, ululations, and yellow flags filled the air as Team Ariko mobilised residents from the corners of Aukot for what locals branded “the return of development.”

From Acaboi, Ariko and his team moved through Amusia I and Amusia III in Awaliwal Parish, preaching the NRM message of continuity and “protecting the gains achieved so far.”

Infrastructure That Speaks For Itself

Speaking to residents, Hon. Ariko highlighted key achievements he has championed over the years — projects that have changed the daily lives of families across Gweri:

* Water Access

* Rural Electrification

* Road Improvements

* Education Support

* Support to Churches

* Youth Empowerment

“These gains must be protected and expanded,” Ariko told gatherings. “This election is about consolidating our progress and unlocking bigger development opportunities for Gweri.”

Today’s Sweep: Ongeseba, Abokoro & Amoru

Today, the NRM candidate continues his mobilization sweep through the villages of Ongeseba in Aukot, Abokoro, and Amoru in Awaliwal, where the reception has been described as “thunderous.”

Residents poured out with chants of appreciation for Ariko’s long-running development footprint, with elders praising him as “a leader who works with his hands, not only his mouth.”

Massive Reception Across The County

From youth to elders, boda riders to market women, the crowds have been swelling with each stop, emphasising one recurring sentiment — Gweri is ready to rally behind Hon. Ariko and the NRM presidential flagbearer in 2026.

As the campaign trail heats up, Hon. Ariko’s village-to-village approach appears set to define the political rhythm in Gweri County — a rhythm powered by development, continuity, and a constituency eager to shape its future.
