KATAKWI SUBCOUNTY, NGARIAM COUNTY — In a campaign trail increasingly defined by economic realities on the ground, Hon Peter Ogwang, MP for Ngariam County and Minister of State for Education and Sports (Sports), has unveiled a renewed agenda centred on household wealth creation as he seeks another term in Parliament.

Speaking to enthusiastic crowds in Ajokopir and Igola villages, Ogwang said his next term would prioritise empowering families to build sustainable income sources, noting that financial independence is the “true backbone of community transformation.”

Focus on Household Incomes

Ogwang said his approach will move beyond broad government programmes and channel more seed capital directly into village structures and small groups.

“In this next term, I want to see money flowing into your homes,” he said. “We shall increase seed capital, strengthen financial services access, and ensure every village has a functional economic activity that benefits families.”

He encouraged residents to monitor government projects closely and demand accountability from leaders at all levels.

Impact Already Visible on the Ground

The Minister’s message was reinforced by testimonies from residents who have benefited from his past interventions.

Omeke, a member of a group of people living with HIV in Oloja village, said Ogwang’s support had transformed their livelihoods.

“Our goats have multiplied. We started small, but now we can see hope. We are grateful,” he said, drawing applause from the crowd.

Community Reception Strong

The poverty eradication message has struck a chord with voters across Ngariam County, many of whom say they want leaders who prioritise income-generating initiatives over political rhetoric.

As campaign activities gather momentum, Ogwang says his confidence stems from a “record of real, visible impact” and the trust built with communities over time.
