The majority in Serere know her work. They understand her heart. They see beyond lies, smear campaigns, and the noise of paid brokers
By Suzan Irau
Ongaro Cell, Omolotok Ward, Kidetok Town Council –Lately, I have paid close attention to the exchanges between young people and the elders in our village regarding the current political climate in Serere — and I am encouraged to learn that the Serere Dove continues to soar. I have known Hon. Abeku Hellen Adoa for years, and I am convinced that nothing matters more to her than serving her people with transparency, integrity, and unmatched selflessness.
Yet as I follow the conversations on social media, I refuse to accept the pettiness that some have descended to — hateful rhetoric, blackmail, and character assassination. This is not who we are as Iteso, and it is certainly not what our politics should be reduced to.
A new wave of political brokers has emerged, an ecosystem of deception built on proximity to reward rather than truth. They parade themselves as strategists, but their claims crumble under scrutiny, retreating into the tired excuse of “we have our sources.” They sell lies for pennies, and while their smear campaigns are loud, Hon. Adoa has mastered the art of dignified silence in the face of baseless attacks. The people of Serere must rise above validating these masqueraders, whose only mission is personal gain.
Since stepping into leadership, Hon. Abeku Hellen Adoa has transformed Serere and contributed significantly to the progress of Teso in ways previously unseen. Every detail of her life is spotlighted because outrage fuels those who profit from it, yet truth and fairness remain casualties. One might think she is the only Member of Parliament in Serere given the intensity of scrutiny she faces. But in reality, she has simply set a higher standard — one many can’t match.
Her political rise is not defined by defeating the former Woman MP — who, in my view, has yet to come to terms with that loss — but by the refreshing leadership style she introduced. Graceful, persistent, and unyielding, Hon. Adoa has demonstrated time and again what true leadership looks like.
Long before politics, she had already built an empire rooted in hard work and service. Today, her impact is visible across Serere and beyond. She has supported women groups and youth initiatives, including boboda SACCOs; distributed tractors, livestock, maize mills, fishing nets, and life jackets; sponsored over 1,000 students; contributed to schools, churches, boreholes, and health camps; and supported families during burial arrangements. She has nurtured sports talent, championed the Fisheries Bill now signed into law, and consistently monitored government programs through subcounty barazas.
And this list is far from complete.
Without fear of contradiction, I can affirm that Hon. Adoa has been exceptional in her service — and will continue to be so in the next five years. While government bears the responsibility to provide services, she has shown that leadership is not about promises, but action.
The majority in Serere know her work. They understand her heart. They see beyond lies, smear campaigns, and the noise of paid brokers.
It is time to consolidate the gains made by Toto Abeku Hellen Adoa — and MOVE SERERE FORWARD.
Vote Abeku Hellen Adoa.
