MP Slams Blackmail Claims, Says Lies Won’t Stop His Service

By Our Reporter I Ngariam Focus

AMORWONGORA PRIMARY SCHOOL-Ngariam County MP and Minister of State for Education and Sports (Sports), Hon. Peter Ogwang, has come out strongly against what he termed as organized blackmail and political sabotage aimed at denting his name over land matters in Okore Subcounty.

Addressing residents at Amoruangora Primary School in Palam Subcounty, Ogwang dismissed claims that he sold off community land, calling them deliberate falsehoods packaged to mislead voters. He revealed that instead of grabbing land, he has personally spent over Shs 60 million to reclaim and protect land threatened by grabbers.

“It is painful that iam the one who is defending and protecting the Okore land from land grabbers but blackmailers have turned around to claim that iam the one grabbing the community land. I did not sell land in Okore — I only paid money to hire lawyers on behalf of the people of Okore in order to rescue it,” Ogwang said, drawing applause from the crowd.

Exposes Land Cartels, Cites Alekilek Victory

The legislator accused some of his critics of working hand in glove with land grabbers, warning that Ngariam would not be handed over to cartels disguised as politicians.

Ogwang cited Alekilek village in Palam Subcounty as a clear example where an attempted land grab was foiled through his intervention and cooperation with security and land authorities.

According to him, the same forces behind that failed scheme are now recycling propaganda to settle political scores.

“When they failed to steal land, they turned to lies,” he remarked.

From Border Maps to Ballot Trust: Ogwang Appeals for Unity

On allegations surrounding land in Okuliak village in Okulonyo subcounty, Ogwang was unequivocal: any land he owns is acquired through lawful purchase. He clarified that the disputed farm is used for goat breeding, part of a livelihood support program whose proceeds benefit his constituents.

He also reminded voters of his role in resolving the long-standing Teso–Karamoja border dispute, a breakthrough achieved after personally presenting official maps to the President.

Calling for unity and sober politics, Ogwang urged residents to reject fear-mongering and focus on leadership that delivers.

“Ngariam needs truth, not poison. Development, not division,” he concluded
