MORU ABELA, GETOM SUBCOUNTY, KATAKWI DISTRICT– Residents of Moru-Abela are set to enjoy clean and safe piped water after Minister of State for Education and Sports, Hon Peter Ogwang, pledged to connect the local communities to a piped water system.
The MP for Ngariam County made the announcement while engaging residents of Abela Parish.
Water Project Kicks Off
Hon Ogwang confirmed that the initiative is already underway, with consultations in progress with the National Water and Sewerage Corporation.
“They asked me to make a deposit to enable them to start surveying and laying the pipes,” he said. The project is set to serve Moru A, Moru B, Kai Moru, and Kide villages, bringing long-awaited relief to communities that previously depended on boreholes and seasonal streams.

Storm-Damaged School Gets Timely Support
In addition to the water project, Hon Ogwang clarified his role in securing iron sheets to re-roof Abela Primary School, which suffered damage during storms earlier this year. After writing to the Office of the Prime Minister in February 2025, the Permanent Secretary responded by sending the materials to the affected school.

Abela Primary School whose roof had been blown off by a storm has now been re-roofed after Hon Peter Ogwang wrote to OPM requesting for ironsheets.
MP Calls Out Rival for False Claims
Hon Ogwang criticized a rival aspirant who has allegedly claimed credit for the school support. “I hear that there is a candidate claiming that he is the one who lobbied for it. This is shameful from an aspiring leader. He is already telling lies even before becoming a leader,” the MP said.
