AJESAI PARISH, GETOM SUBCOUNTY, KATAKWI DISTRICT — Ngariam County MP and Minister of State for Education and Sports, Hon. Peter Ogwang, has intensified his pledge to eradicate household poverty, a commitment that residents and analysts say is strengthening his already commanding lead as the 2026 election approaches.

While addressing supporters in Ajesai Parish, Ogwang assured communities that his next term will focus squarely on building income at the household level — a task he vowed to carry out “like a local councilor,” reaching every village to educate families on practical income-generating ventures.

His message was met with enthusiastic support, with voters declaring they are ready to “storm polling stations” come 2026 to return Ogwang to office, pointing to his visible service record — from infrastructure to social development — as proof of leadership that has delivered.

“Hon Ogwang has shown us real work. We have seen development coming closer to our homes,” said Malinga Emmanuel from Ajesai Village.

“We don’t need to be convinced. His service is already on the ground. In 2026, we are voting massively,” added Okure Micheal from Abela Kide.

From Pailakol Village, Akiror Stella Rose praised the minister’s hands-on style: “Ogwang does not wait for others to tell him what is needed. He comes, sees, and works with us.”

Her neighbour, Asio Betty, echoed the same: “He has lifted our hopes. We shall storm the polling stations for him because he has delivered.”

Major Infrastructure Commitments On The Horizon

Ogwang outlined flagship initiatives including securing a Health Center III for Getom Subcounty, extending piped water to Ajesai Parish — where rocky terrain has hindered borehole drilling — and accelerating rural electrification. He appealed to landowners to cooperate on electric pole passage, noting that compensation applies only to high-voltage lines under current policy.

Championing Increased Parish Development Funding

The minister reinforced ongoing advocacy by MPs to double parish allocations from the current Shs 100 million to Shs 200 million, emphasizing that the increment would significantly boost grassroots economic empowerment. With the newly completed seed secondary school, Ogwang argued that Ngariam is better positioned to benefit from expanded sector funding.

Service Record Fuels Momentum Toward 2026

Political observers say Ogwang’s achievements — including education infrastructure, water extension campaigns, and investment in electrification — have created a clear path to re-election. Community leaders and ordinary voters alike credit him for “tangible service delivery,” asserting that his leadership model is rooted in visibility, accessibility, and results.

As momentum builds, residents of Ngariam County say they are not merely supporting a candidate — but a leader whose development footprint is already etched across the region. With poverty alleviation at the forefront of his agenda, Ogwang’s pitch for 2026, they believe, is not a promise but a continuation of proven progress.
