NGARIAM SUBCOUNTY HEADQUATERS, KATAKWI DISTRICT — Ngariam Secondary School in Katakwi District is poised for a transformative upgrade after the Ministry of Education and Sports selected it among 120 schools earmarked for nationwide renovation.
Announcing the project at Ngariam Subcounty Headquarters, Minister of State for Education and Sports,(Sports) Hon. Peter Ogwang, reaffirmed his lobbying efforts on behalf of the community.

“We were sent to Parliament to advocate for our people, and this renovation is part of that commitment,” he said.
“Ngariam deserves a school that meets modern standards, and we shall deliver facilities that support quality learning—classrooms, laboratories, fencing, and sanitation.”
The planned renovation goes beyond basic repairs and will feature the construction of new classrooms, modern laboratories, perimeter fencing, and upgraded toilets.

Community Leaders Hail Project As A Turning Point For Education Standards
Residents from four parishes and 22 villages welcomed the development with excitement, describing it as a long-awaited investment in education.
Daniel Opolot, LC1 Chairperson of Abule Village, praised Ogwang’s efforts, saying, “This is a big achievement for us. The minister has shown that he is not only talking, but bringing real development to Ngariam.”
Mzee George Israel Odongo, a 71-year-old respected elder, echoed the appreciation. “Hon. Ogwang is a pillar for Ngariam and this country. His legacy will remain because schools, health centers, and roads will stay here long after we have gone,” he said.

Community members expressed hope that the facelift will boost academic performance and attract more students, easing pressure on neighboring schools and supporting long-term education goals.
