ALIAKAMER, KATAKWI SUBCOUNTY — In Acomai and Oale villages, talk of politics briefly gave way to stories of changed lives as residents openly praised Ngariam County MP and Minister of State for Education and Sports, Hon. Peter Ogwang, for what they described as “visible and practical” efforts to lift households out of poverty.
Villagers said Ogwang’s approach has gone beyond promises, touching ordinary families through targeted livelihood support and community-based initiatives that have restored hope among the rural poor.

“We Have Felt His Hand” — LC1 Chairperson
Speaking during a community gathering, Moses Elungat, the LC1 Chairperson of Acomai village, said the minister’s interventions have had a direct impact at household level.
“These are not stories; we have felt his hand,” Elungat said. “Seed capital has helped families start small businesses, goats have supported poor women, and assistance to churches, youth groups and burial associations has strengthened our social fabric. Hon. Ogwang has stood with us.”
Elungat noted that such initiatives have helped families regain dignity and stability, particularly in hard economic times.
NRM Support Rooted in Service — Deputy RDC
The community’s appreciation was echoed by Godfrey Oumo, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Omoro District, who hailed the people of Aliakamer Parish for strongly backing Ogwang during the recent NRM primaries.
“The support Hon. Ogwang received was not accidental,” Oumo said. “It is rooted in service, consistency and presence among the people. Leaders who work are rewarded by the voters.”
Oumo urged residents to consolidate their support by voting for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and Hon. Peter Ogwang in the January 15, 2026 general elections, arguing that continuity would secure more development for the area.
Ogwang Calls for Unity and Turnout
Addressing the gathering, Hon. Ogwang thanked the community for their trust and reaffirmed his commitment to fighting poverty through inclusive programs that reach the most vulnerable.
“When we work together, progress becomes possible,” Ogwang said. “I thank you for standing with the NRM and I encourage you to come out in large numbers to vote for President Museveni and our shared development agenda.”
The minister emphasized unity, discipline and peaceful participation in the upcoming polls, saying the future of Ngariam County depends on collective effort and focused leadership.
