SOROTI-All is now confirmed and set for the historic and memorable swearing-in ceremony and thanksgiving of Uganda’s youngest District LCV Chairperson, Hon Bob Owiny, popularly known as B.O.B.
Preparations are now in high gear in Soroti District to usher in the new district boss, who will be sworn in alongside 30 district Councillors drawn from the 2 Town Councils and 10 sub-counties of the district.
This highly anticipated and colorful function is scheduled for Monday, 18th May 2026 at 10:00 AM, marking the beginning of a new chapter in Soroti’s leadership.
Residents, leaders, and well-wishers are expected to gather in large numbers to witness what many are calling a defining political moment for the district.
Owiny’s rise has been nothing short of remarkable—a steady, deliberate climb from youth politics to councilorship, and now to the pinnacle of district leadership. His journey reflects grit, grassroots connection, and a bold vision for transformation.

Hon. Owiny’s political journey is a powerful testament to persistence and people-centered leadership. From mobilizing youth at the community level to shaping policy as a councillor, his path has been anchored in service and trust.
Hon Peter Ebau Ochom, LC3 Chairperson of Awaliwal Sub County, praised Owiny’s leadership:

Adding his voice, Hon Herbert Edmund Ariko, the Gweri County MP-elect and Soroti District NRM Chairperson, expressed confidence in a shared vision for the district:

Grand Thanksgiving Celebrations Promise Unity and Joy
In the spirit of gratitude and unity, a grand thanksgiving prayer and celebration will take place on Saturday, 30th May 2026 at Tubur Primary School playgrounds.
The event will be presided over by Rt Rev Kosea Odongo, Bishop of the Church of Uganda, Diocese of Soroti, who has confirmed as the main celebrant.
The organizing committee, chaired by Hon George Michael Egunyu, is already working tirelessly to deliver a memorable event.
Speaking about Owiny, Hon. Egunyu noted:
“Hon. Owiny’s victory is not just political—it is symbolic of hope for the common person. He has walked with the people, listened to them, and now rises to lead them. This thanksgiving is a moment for all of us to appreciate that journey and commit to supporting him.”
Hon Agwanyi, Councillor-elect for Asuret Sub County, rallied the public to attend:
“This is a celebration for the entire district. I call upon all sons and daughters of Soroti to come in large numbers for prayers and celebrations. Let us stand together and usher in this new leadership with unity and pride.”
