The Bishop of Light Resurrection Ministries, Israel Tukei, has called on the people of Teso to be deliberate and prayerful in choosing their leaders, urging them to vote for individuals who are God-fearing and driven by a clear development agenda.

He emphasized that leadership should be rooted in service, integrity, and a genuine commitment to uplifting communities.

Speaking during a prayer mass held at the ancestral home of Harriet Anyimo, an aspiring Member of Parliament for Dakabela Constituency, Bishop Tukei challenged voters to move away from electing leaders without vision.

He noted that the era of empty promises and unclear intentions must come to an end, giving way to leadership that delivers tangible change and meaningful development for the people.

“The time has passed for us to entrust our future to leaders who have no clear agenda for the people,” Bishop Tukei said. “What Teso needs today are leaders who understand the needs of the community and are prepared to work selflessly to address them.”

The bishop stressed that development cannot be separated from values, pointing out that leaders who fear God are more likely to govern with honesty, compassion, and accountability. According to him, faith provides a moral compass that guides leaders to serve with humility and prioritize the welfare of the people over personal interests.

Bishop Tukei commended Harriet Anyimo for beginning her political journey with prayer, describing it as a sign of humility and spiritual grounding.

He said that leaders who invite God at the beginning of their mission demonstrate clarity of purpose and openness to divine guidance in their service to the people.

“When a leader starts by seeking God, it is a sign that they have vision and direction,” he noted. “Such leaders receive wisdom and a prophetic mandate to lead with love, passion, and dedication to service delivery.”

The prayer gathering drew community members and local leaders who joined in seeking divine guidance for Dakabela Constituency and the wider Teso sub-region. Bishop Tukei reminded those in attendance that voting is not just a political act but also a moral responsibility that shapes the future of families, communities, and generations to come.

He urged the people of Dakabela to reflect deeply on the kind of leadership they desire, encouraging them to support leaders who are committed to unity, development, and the common good.

As the region prepares for the upcoming electoral processes, the bishop’s message resonated as a call for conscience-driven leadership anchored in faith, vision, and service to the people.

Meanwhile just after prayers, Anyimo applauded Bishop Tukei for honouring his invitation together with praying for the family and her team.

She noted that the vision to hold prayers was God’s calling adding that “I believe leadership must begin with God and end with service to the people. My commitment is to serve Dakabela with integrity, humility, and a clear development agenda that leaves no one behind.”

“This journey is not about personal ambition, but about answering a calling to restore hope, bring meaningful change, and ensure that the people of Dakabela feel the impact of leadership in their daily lives.”
