Residents Warned: No Parish Will Be Left Behind
By Our Reporter I Ngariam Focus
OLILIM PRIMARY SCHOOL- Ngariam County MP and Minister of State for Education and Sports(Sports), Hon. Peter Ogwang, has cautioned that any mismanagement or exclusion in the distribution of Parish Development Model (PDM) funds will not go unchallenged.
Speaking to residents at Olilim Primary School, Ogwang highlighted concerns that some newly created parishes in Palam Subcounty may have been unfairly denied access to the government’s development resources. He described such omissions as “unacceptable and suspicious” and vowed to investigate thoroughly.
Vows Accountability and Transparency
In a spirited exchange with locals, Ogwang challenged leaders to explain how and why any parish would fail to receive its allocation.
“If what you are telling me is true, then who is taking this money?” he questioned, promising to raise the matter with the PDM Secretariat. He warned that anyone responsible for blocking or misappropriating funds would face consequences.
“The culprits will pay a heavy price,” he said, pointing to the programme’s intention of delivering Shs 100 million per parish and Shs 1,000,000 to individual beneficiaries.
Calls for Broader Fight Against Poverty
Ogwang reminded residents that PDM is only one tool in the government’s push to spur household incomes, urging communities to take advantage of other programmes such as Emyooga. He emphasized that genuine progress would require vigilance, unity, and proper utilization of public funds.
The legislator’s remarks drew attention to concerns over fairness in implementation—raising expectations for a closer inspection of PDM operations in Palam and renewed scrutiny of parish-level management.
