By Our Reporter I Ngariam Focus
ABOIBOI, GETOM SUBCOUNTY — Excitement is sweeping across Aboiboi Parish in Getom Subcounty,Katakwi District after the Minister of State for Education and Sports(Sports), Hon. Peter Ogwang, unveiled two transformative projects poised to reshape life in Onguok and Moruapesur villages: the construction of a new primary school and the opening of a vital access road.
Speaking while campaigning in Moruapesur, the Ngariam County MP reassured residents that government remains committed to reducing barriers to education and essential services—especially in rural communities that have long endured isolation.
New School To End 15km Treks
For decades, pupils from Onguok and Moruapesur have endured grueling 15-kilometer journeys to Abela Primary School.
Hon. Ogwang emphasized that the fresh development aligns with the national directive to ensure every parish has a primary school—an effort to bring education closer to the doorstep.
“We cannot continue subjecting our children to such distances. Education must be accessed, not chased,” he said, noting the school will offer relief, safety, and greater opportunity for learners.
Road To Link Villages And Boost Services
In addition to the school, Hon. Ogwang announced a new road connecting Onguok and Moruapesur to Aliakamer Parish in Katakwi Subcounty. The road will cut travel time, ease movement, and improve access to markets, health centers, and administrative structures—strengthening the parish’s economic and social fabric.
Local leaders hailed the development as a long-awaited breakthrough for Aboiboi Parish, describing it as the “missing link” in accessing vital services.
A Call For Wise Leadership Choices
Hon. Ogwang used the gathering to encourage residents to vote with foresight, stressing that leadership choices influence service delivery.
“Elections are good if you vote wisely, but elections are bad when you vote recklessly,” he said, reiterating his role in championing the creation of Getom Subcounty and new villages, which laid the groundwork for this progress.
Aboiboi Parish At The Dawn Of Transformation
The twin projects are set to alleviate educational hardship, reduce isolation, and spark economic uplift for Onguok and Moruapesur.
As hope begins to crystallize into reality, residents say the promise of a school and road marks the dawn of a new chapter— one where Aboiboi Parish steps out of the shadows of distance and steps boldly toward development.
