ACANGA PRIMARY SCHOOL, NGARIAM SUBCOUNTY,KATAKWI DISTRICT — The long-awaited upgrade of Ngariam Health Center III to a Health Center IV is set to reshape healthcare access in Ngariam County, following a commitment by Minister of State for Education and Sports(Sports), Hon Peter Ogwang.
The transformation is expected to introduce advanced medical services—particularly in maternal health and emergency care—bringing hope to thousands who currently trek long distances for specialized treatment.
UPDF Engineering Brigade To Lead Construction Works
Hon Ogwang confirmed that the UPDF engineering brigade will spearhead construction, ensuring a theater, maternity wing, and general wards are incorporated into the facility. The Minister reaffirmed that the government will deploy qualified medical personnel, including doctors, to operationalize the upgraded health center.
Education Progress Continues, But Poverty Remains a Priority
While noting that all subcounties in Ngariam County now benefit from seed secondary schools, Hon Ogwang was candid about the remaining challenge— household income. He pledged to intensify mobilization efforts aimed at poverty reduction, signaling a shift toward economic empowerment campaigns during his next term.
Electricity Connection Plans To Complement Upgrade
In a further development, plans are underway to connect electricity to Ngariam subcounty and neighboring communities, including the health facility. The power extension is expected to complement the health center upgrade by supporting equipment operation and improving service delivery standards.
