NRM Heavyweights Close Ranks Around Ogwang In Ngariam Re-Election Push

By Reporter I Ngariam Focus

OLUPE PARISH, NGARIAM SUBCOUNTY — The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has moved with unmistakable force in Ngariam County, as senior government officials and party leaders rallied behind Hon. Peter Ogwang, the Minister of State for Education and Sports (Sports), endorsing him as the man to safeguard stability, continuity and development in the area.

At a charged community gathering, RDC Kotido Charles Ichogor, alongside Deputy RDCs from, Omoro, Otuke and Kapelebyong districts, openly canvassed support for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and Hon. Ogwang, framing the 2026 polls as a decisive moment to protect the gains of the NRM revolution.

“Protect the Foundation”

Delivering one of the most quoted remarks of the day, Deputy RDC Otuke District, warned voters against what he termed political experimentation.

“If we disorganize the foundation and bring new people who didn’t know which bricks were used to lay it, we shall be the losers,” Okwameri said, drawing applause from the crowd.

His message was clear: Ngariam’s progress is tied to tested leadership within the NRM fold — and Ogwang embodies that continuity.

“A Leader Who Delivers Beyond Promises”

Adding his voice, the Deputy RDC Omoro District, Geoffrey Akol Oumo, praised Hon. Ogwang as a dependable and results-oriented leader whose work speaks louder than campaign rhetoric.

“Hon. Peter Ogwang is not a seasonal leader. His work is visible in education, youth empowerment, women groups and community support. These are not promises — they are things people here can point at,” Oumo said.

Oumo urged voters to reward proven performance, noting that Ogwang’s position at the national level has translated into tangible benefits for Ngariam.

“When you have a minister who listens and follows through, you don’t gamble with that advantage. You protect it,” he added.

A Record That Speaks

Residents and local leaders took turns recounting Ogwang’s footprint across the county. From women savings groups and youth initiatives to support for churches and community projects, Ogwang’s name repeatedly surfaced as synonymous with accessibility and action.

The LC1 Chairperson of Nyero Village, Peter Edongot, summed it up bluntly:

“The list of what Hon. Ogwang has done here is endless. He is present, he listens, and he delivers.”

Peace As The First Dividend

Addressing the gathering, Hon. Ogwang reminded residents of Ngariam’s troubled past, when insecurity stifled daily life and development. He credited the NRM government for restoring calm and urged voters not to gamble with peace.

“Without peace, there is no development,” Ogwang said, pledging to continue championing social services.

He revealed that Nyero Parish is set to receive a government primary school, in line with the national policy of one primary school per parish — a pledge that drew visible excitement from parents.

Rare Privilege, Rare Leader

Adding political weight to the endorsement, the Soroti District LCV Chairperson, Hon. Simon Peter Edoru Ekuu, urged Ngariam voters to recognize the strategic advantage they hold.

“Soroti District, where I am a leader, doesn’t even have a single RDC. But Ngariam, which is a county, has several RDCs — because of Hon. Peter Ogwang,” Ekuu said, urging voters not to “abuse the opportunity” of having a well-connected national leader in their midst.

The Road Ahead

As campaign drums grow louder, the message from Ngariam’s political establishment is unified: vote NRM, vote Museveni, vote Ogwang.

With endorsements from top administrators, praise from grassroots leaders, and a track record anchored in peace and service delivery, Ogwang enters the race as a formidable force.

In Ngariam, the verdict from both the grassroots and the corridors of power is unmistakable: when stability, access and delivery are on the ballot, Hon. Peter Ogwang remains the safe pair of hands.
