The Uganda Premier League home clash between UPPC FC and SC Villa ended in a tightly contested 1–1 draw, with both sides showing grit and determination.
The spotlight, however, fell on UPPC FC’s dependable Ngariam County born defensive midfielder Iisat Emmanuel, whose commanding performance at the midfield kept the home team in the game with more interceptions and commanded the teams shape and procession throughout the game.
From the first whistle, Villa pressed high, testing UPPC’s defense with quick runs and long balls. But Iisat, calm and composed, stood firm — breaking the villas attacks in the midfield, intercepting passes, and organizing his defensive midfield line with maturity beyond his years. His reading of the game frustrated Villa’s attacking midfielders, who found it difficult to break through the UPPC midfield.
The UPPC boy Fazil Tumwine drew first blood in the 28th minute, capitalizing on a loose ball to slot, drowning the visitors. But SC Villa responded strongly in the 83rd minute just to balance the boat, Andrew Otim equalized brilliantly.
The second half saw UPPC dominating the game, creating chances, but it was UPPC’s defensive midfielder — led by Iisat — that stood tall. His timely tackles and aerial clearances denied Villa any hopes of snatching a late winner. The fans applauded his composure and leadership, especially in the closing minutes when pressure mounted.
Speaking after the match, UPPC’s fan praised Iisat for his outstanding work rate:
“He’s been solid for us. Today, he showed discipline, focus, and real heart. These are the kind of performances that build a team.”
The draw leaves UPPC FC with plenty of positives to build on having slid from forth to fifth position, particularly their midfield organization and fighting spirit. For local fans, it was a performance that proved the team’s growing confidence — and a reminder that Iisat Emmanuel is one to watch in the league this season.
